Whats it all about?

Piehead
(also known as Philip Slade)
gets rather excited by the world around him. This is a record of the stuff he finds. Most is haphazardly filed as either 'Home' or 'Work' The difference generally being whether it features: rants about brands and marketing or Alice (14) and Jake (13) or very occasionally the Fish.

Having struggled with Dyslexia all his life, Philip now admits that spelling and grammar will be skills mastered in the next life

Great idea2 -just might work

riya.png

Now this does look cool. A rival to Flickr. A picture hosting site called riya 2.0 that also doubles as a visual search engine. Looks like you can search not only by word but uploaded: pattern, colour, mood or even a person's face. Could be the perfect tool for people like me with goldfish memory. "I know what it looks like just can't remember its damn name" Its run by the same folks who recently launched like.com. Munjal Shah has a blog here that explains the excitement of getting this new product off the ground.

Similar but for shopping. In Japan, the majority of mobile phones are equipped with code readers. They can scan codes from products, but the really funky side is when you take a pic of something you like, it auto-recognises and provides you a download synopsis of features, benefits etc and then tells you where, according to your position at the time, you can buy it cheapest, physical or online.

If adopted across the world could we see the end of retail as we know it? Just a whole heap of giant facilities showcasing products with order fulfillment to your door?
